Allie Smith, Ph.D.

Research Scientist


Dr. Allie Smith has been working as a scientist for RTLGenomics since September 2015. She received a B.S. in Microbiology from Texas Tech University in 2011 and became certified as a technologist in microbiology (M(ASCP)CM) in 2013. Dr. Smith received a Ph.D. in Molecular Microbiology and Immunology from the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in 2015, where her dissertation focused on interspecies interactions in polymicrobial wound infections. At RTLGenomics, Dr. Smith works with sample processing and DNA extraction protocols, and also helps with the workflow for sequencing. She also performs quantitative PCR, including working with clients to develop custom qPCR analytes. In addition to working at RTLGenomics, Dr. Smith teaches microbiology courses at Texas Tech.
